Some Facts about Eating Habits

Having a healthy eating regime is very essential for living a balanced life. In this article, we will try to provide some useful information about eating habit and how you can improve upon your eating regime. Controlling calories is very important for achieving balance in life.

Some of eating tips for controlling calories are;

Always eat in moderation. Explore variety of foods but keep a tab on the quantity. Overeating is a strict no-no. One should eat only when he is feeling hungry and stop the moment when stomach tells you that it’s full. Calorie intake will be automatically reduced if you decrease your sugar and fat intake. One common mistake committed by large number of people is fast eating. Blame it on lack of time or fast paced life style but one should always eat slowly and chew foods with utmost care. This way, you will know when your stomach is full. Eating in a relaxed environment is very essential. Remember, mind takes no less than 20 minutes to register that you are full.

Reducing fat and cholesterol is another crucial aspect of our eating habit. Vegetables are the way to go in ideal circumstances but if you love non-vegetarian you can always have them in moderation. Don’t fry foods too much as it takes away nutrition elements. It will help if you could reduce intake of oil and spices from the food.

Focus on food items like cereals, pastas and whole grain breads that contain fiber. One should also give his attention to raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Avoid high sugar foods. Reduce the amount of salt while cooking. Too much of sodium is not very good for body. Finally, don’t forget to have adequate calcium in your regular diet. Yogurt, broccoli, milk, cheese and dried beans are rich sources of calcium.

India Gate Facts

The national capital of India boasts of several historical monuments. Delhi is a beautiful city with a rich history of thousand years. One of the most renowned landmarks of the city is India Gate. One must have seen it during a travel visit to Delhi or in several movies. Situated in the heart of the city, it is located on Rajpath. The history of India Gate goes back to 20th century. There is a story behind establishment of this important landmark. It was made to commemorate the soldiers of the erstwhile British Indian Army, who had lost their lives while fighting in World War I and the Afghan Wars. The original name of the landmark was the All India War Memorial. The monument has Amar Jawan Jyoti that is always in flame.

India Gate was designed by Edwin Lutyens who was also the chief architect of New Delhi. On 10th February 1921, the Duke of Connaught laid the foundation of the monument. The construction work came to an end in 1931 after 10 years of work. If you see properly, you will find names of Indian soldiers inscribed on the walls of India Gate. These soldiers had sacrificed their lives in World War I and the Afghan Wars.

India Gate has a total height of 42 meters. It houses Amar Jawan Jyoti that was unveiled on January 26, 1972. The flame of jyoti burns all the time in respect of soldiers who sacrficied their lives during Indo-Pakistan War of December 1971. The Gate also serves as venue of Republic Parade every year.
